Group outputs

The group first met at the 2006 IFTR World Congress in Helsinki, and subsequently at the annual conferences in Stellenbosch, Seoul, and Lisbon as well as the World Congress in Munich. In 2012, six working group members engaged in online discussion of papers at the time of the Chile conference. Members of the group also met at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th International Conferences on Consciousness, Theatre, Literature and the Arts, in Aberystwyth (May 2007) and May 2009 and May 2011 (Lincoln), respectively. The proceedings of those conferences were published with Cambridge Scholars Publishing. The Consciousness, Literature and the Arts series with Rodopi (http://www.rodopi.nl/senj.asp?SerieId=CLA) has published thirty-one titles and the Intellect series Theatre and Consciousness (http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/books/view-Series,id=1/) three titles (both since 2005), with a further ten (Rodopi) and three (Intellect) at various stages of commissioning, writing and printing. In addition, Palgrave MacMillan is publishing, in spring 2013, a collection of essays predominantly emerging from papers presented at the IFTR conferences and congresses entitled Embodied Consciousness: Technologies of Performance. The members of the working group also have the option of submitting their work to the peer reviewed online journal Consciousness, Literature and the Artshttp://blackboard.lincoln.ac.uk/bbcswebdav/users/dmeyerdinkgrafe/index.htm.

Annual report 2011/12 following the IFTR Annual Conference 2012, Chile

The working group intended to meet at the IFTR annual conference in Chile. However, due to the cost involved in travel to the conference venue, together with less funding available to attend conferences from prospective participants' employing universities, the working group convenors decided to have an online discussion of pre-submitted papers at the time of the conference. This option was selected in the end by six working group members.

The Rodopi book series Consciousness, Literature and the Arts is thriving, with three titles published in the period covered by this report, as is the refereed journal of the same title. A further three titles were contracted to the Intellect series Theatre and Consciousness. Palgrave MacMillan is publishing, in spring 2013, a collection of essays predominantly emerging from papers presented at the IFTR conferences and congresses entitled Embodied Consciousness: Technologies of Performance. The 2011 4th International Conference on Consciousness, Theatre, Literature and the Arts, held at the University of Lincoln, was very successful, attended by 55 delegates from 28 countries. There were two keynotes, four plenary sessions, three performances and 43 papers presented in parallel sessions. Cambridge Scholars Publishing published the proceedings. The next CTLA conference will be held in Lincoln in June 2013.
